20th March, 2009: The Robert Pettifer Trophy

At the AGM, we decided to commemorate Robert Pettifer's contribution to the club by establishing a new award in his name. The award will go to the person who has contributed most to the smooth and effective running of the club. The criteria will include things like: turning up early before a match to help put things out and putting them away at the end; unprompted volunteering for tea-making; regular availability plus making yourself available at short notice if there are drop outs; assistance in getting equipment out and putting it away at indoor net practices; helping and encouraging other players. We've now purchased the new trophy and it will go along side the John Halliday award, which is given to the person who has made the most impressive playing contribution.
