Spirits of Place
Friday 7th December 2001
Tocil Wood
A practical workshop in sensitivity of, and communication with spirits of place - building on some of the things from the Energetics and Magick workshop. Essentially, a good opportunity to get really pissed in a dark wood at night. And a chance to play with the spirit of an alcoholic mole ;-)
Mulled Wine and Storytelling
Tuesday 4th December 2001
An evening of storytelling and generally sitting around having fun, with mulled drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). And much playing with Malcolm, Antony's cat.
Energetics and Magick Workshop
Friday 30th November 2001
This was an introduction to working with energy - centering, grounding, raising energy, sensitivity exercises, etc. and mostly involved throwing balls of energy at people (ok, I know I can't catch!) and drinking charged mead out of a charged horn. It was lots of fun.
Anyone who didn't turn up to this one who would like to know a little more, please contact us.
Trips to the Rollright Stones
The Rollrights are a stone circle about fifteen miles from Banbury. Not as large or impressive as Stonehenge or Avebury, but far more alive. See the articles page for a personal experience from this fascinating place.

We have been to the Rollrights several times. One of our own initiations was conducted here, on a highly memorable November evening in 1999. The ceremony can be found on the rituals page. Members of the society have also been involved in protecting the stones, conducting overnight vigils, manning the ticket office, etc.
Trips to Avebury Henge
Not far from Stonehenge is the mile-wide Avebury. Unlike Stonehenge, the stones are not roped off and it is possible to touch them. It is also much older, and has the added advantage of being the only stone circle in the world to have a pub in the centre! The Red Lion, Avebury is a nice little English pub that serves proper beer, mead, and dowsing rods at the bar. It also has a well in it, which is fun to stare down while enjoying the local brews.

Late in our first term we descended upon this unsuspecting circle en masse, and spent a highly pleasant evening talking to stones and falling down big holes. It is also a regular stop-off point on any journeys to that part of the world. Sunset over Avebury is one of the most spectacular things I have ever seen.
Trips to Stonehenge
Stonehenge is perhaps the most famous stone circle in the world. Little is known of how or why it was built, or what it was originally used for, but it stands as a 4000 year old testament to the skills of ancient peoples.

We have been inside the circle itself twice. On 18th February 2000, three members of the society were initiated into the Insular Order of Druids. More details of that ceremony can be found at the IOD's website (see links page).
We also attended the famed Summer Solstice celebrations on 20th-21st of June 2000. This time five members of the society were able to go down for the celebrations, stopping off at Avebury on the way for a glass of mead and a walk round. See the articles page for more information on this remarkable experience.
Wales Trip
In July 2000, several members of the society got together and went to Port Eynon, South Gower (near Swansea) for some camping, drinking, beachcombing and Tarot Reading (not necessarily in that order). Twas bloody hot, and much sunburned fun was had by all. An encore is planned.
